Monday 13th. It was an earlier start than usual as everyone has to get to Bell School early to take their English test 🙂 Most of the students were a little nervous, but they seemed ready.
On arriving at Bell, first everyone had to complete a few forms, then they got their photo taken for a student ID card. After this, it was straight off to the test.
The test started on the PC, with a grammar and reading test. While this was happening, students were taken out two at a time for their speaking test. Finally, there was a short writing test, too.
Following the test was an introduction/safety lecture and a quick tour of the school – then students went off to join their first class.
At lunch time, everyone got to share their first thoughts. Everyone thought it was difficult to speak out, but it was fun. We told everyone to remember this feeling, because in a few days, once they are used to the lessons and using English, they will only remember that it is fun to use English.
After school on Monday, everyone joined a Bell activity; making original t-shirts. There were some really creative ideas and everyone really got into the activity. Hopefully, they will have the confidence to wear their shirts around town one day while they are here.
